I am looking into buying a good used camera and am told i should consider the P2. Can anyone give me feed back on this camera and let me know which other cameras I should look into.

P2 is not a camera. It's storage media, like mini dv tapes, but P2 HD is a full production-quality, high-definition recording system that utilizes removable solid-state memory cards. A good camera that utilizes this technology is the Panasonic hvx200.

Another option is to consider the DSLR cameras that have gained popularity in shooting video. One of the most popular is the Canon 5D, but at over $2000, you might consider the Canon 60d which sells for under $1000. Lots of choices. These are for new cameras.

I think checking out the RED Scarlet is worth your time. You get 5K 12 FPS and 4K 24FPS for $9700. This is the camera I would use to make a new film. http://www.red.com/products/scarlet

The Canon EOS C300 is also a contender with some excellent work being done with it as part of the release.

The ARRI Alexa is taking episodic television by storm and has a fast workflow and a really solid, functional product.
